You see, if we don't know how much of an influence others have on us, we won't be able to discern what we believe to be true on an issue/desire/pursuit. The court of public opinion is a powerful one. And although they aren't always wrong, what I have found to be true in many cases is that, they are usually the last to support or rally behind an idea or issue that once seemed controversial. They wait until that idea gains traction and a noticeable level of acceptance before they throw in their support.
This is why its so important to assess and reassess who and what you are allowing to influence you. Its important to guard those early stages of a dream or idea, to prevent the dream from dying a premature death. So set some time today, or shortly after you read this, to examine your relationships, your mentors (or the lack of mentors), your go-to-social media sites, and other media outlets to see if these are healthy, nurturing, or wise spaces. Or better yet, to discover and plan for a much needed Spring cleaning. An honest assessment of your circle of influence will reveal how you may or may not be bending to the court of public opinion.
